Last Minute Presentation AdviceYou either neglected to prepare or are being forced to cover for someone else’s lack of preparation. You have good reason to be concerned, or even afraid, accept this. Your listeners will remember how they felt long after they forgot what you said. Decide right now how you want them to feel. Pick one feeling. Confident, relaxed, grateful. We know you are feeling uncomfortable; however, it is doubtful your goal is to make them uncomfortable as well. Write down that emotion. Pick one key message. Answer the question what do you want your audience to do? Go away may be your first thought just complete the thought. What do you want them to go away with? Pick three points that connect your key message to your topic. Write down your three points. We know you probably have too much information to fit into three points. Since you have very little time just choose three things you think your audience will find interesting. Consider how you are personally connected to each of the three points. Give your presentation by asking and answering the following questions: Introduction: Body: Conclusion: By selecting one emotion and three points you can outline your presentation on a single sheet of paper. You don’t have to memorize your stories since they are already a part of your life. Use your chosen emotion to guide how you tell your stories and make your points.
